Tragic violence hits family over Covid-19

The tragedy took place in Nellore district, where the husband, Malyadri, killed his wife Anuradha and later tried to commit suicide after they could not find an ambulance to reach a hospital for Covid treatment.

Nellore: The Covid-19 pandemic is piling miseries in the state of Andhra Pradesh and now it has also led to a murder and attempted suicide in the family of a small tiffin centre vendor. The tragedy took place in Nellore district, where the husband, Malyadri, killed his wife Anuradha and later tried to commit suicide.

Later, when Malyadri regained consciousness, he found his wife dead. The husband later went to a Nellore town police station and surrendered. Police have admitted Malyadri to a hospital for treatment and have further booked him for killing his wife and attempting suicide. The incident has shocked the family and has orphaned the children.

Malyadri and Anuradha have been running a small tiffin centre business in the area. They tested Covid positive on April 25 and were in home isolation. Their 2 children were residing at a relatives' home.

Anuradha complained of breathlessness and tried to find an ambulance with the helpline 104 and 108 services. Despite their best efforts, the duo couldn't find an ambulance. Amidst such a grim situation, the couple decided to commit suicide. Malayadri first stabbed his wife and tried to kill himself but failed in his attempt.
