Death of eight patients linked to 'oxygen shortage' in AP

Eight Covid patients have died at a Hindupur government hospital in Anantapur district. The victims' relatives claimed the patients have died due to oxygen shortage. The family members have alleged that the oxygen pressure had decreased in the morning and had informed the hospital staff but no action was taken to rectify the situation.

Anantapur: Eight corona patients have died at a Hindupur government hospital in Anantapur district. The victims' relatives claimed the patients have died due to oxygen shortage. The family members have alleged that the oxygen pressure had decreased in the morning and had informed the hospital staff but no action was taken to rectify the situation.

The family members of the deceased protested outside the hospital against the negligence of the hospital staff. They also demanded strict action against the staff in front of the police. On Saturday, 14 patients died at the Government General Hospital in the same district due to the oxygen shortage.

Andhra Pradesh has witnessed 23,920 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. The state has also reported 11,411 recoveries and 83 deaths. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has imposed a partial lockdown starting from May 5 in the state for two weeks. Shops will open only from 6 am to 12 pm and essential services will remain unaffected.
