TTD to speed up construction of temples in India

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Chairman YV Subba Reddy said 500 temples will be built across India within a year.

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has said it will speed up the construction of temples across India. Its chairman YV Subba Reddy speaking at an event to mark two years in office said, 500 temples will be built within a year.

He said Lord Balaji temples are being built from Jammu to Kanyakumari and the foundation has been laid for a temple at Majhin village area in Jammu. Samarsata Foundation and the endowment department made plans two years ago but it was not executed owing to the pandemic, according to sources. Reddy said Srivani Trust funds would be utilized for the construction and renovation of temples in backward areas.

He further said a committee will be formed to examine eligibility for contract and outsourcing of employees with TTD for regularization. He added Kannada and Hindi SVBC spiritual television channels will be launched in two or three months. Among other plans, authorities will remove unauthorized shops in Tirumala, build 13 wedding halls and a pediatric hospital in Tirupati.

Reddy said organic farming would be increased and organic crops would be sold at a discounted price. He also said cows have been donated to 100 temples across the country under the 'Gudiko Gomata' plan.
