Bank staffer flees with cash and jewellery in AP

The attendant on the run is believed to have stripped the Canara bank in Kottapeta in East Godavari district of 322 grams of gold and Rs 9.25 lakh in cash.

Kottapeta (Andhra Pradesh): A robbery has occurred at Kottapeta in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. An attendant working in Canara bank stole cash, gold jewellery from the bank and escaped. Police suspect that attender Suresh turned off the CCTV's and stole cash and jewellery while the staff was on their way to lunch. Cops have registered a case and investigating as per the complaint of the bank manager.

Manager Shivakumar complained to the police that 322 grams of gold along with Rs 9.25 lakh was missing. On the same day, the cash and gold jewellery pledged by customers was locked at the cash counter and handed over to Bandaru Tulsi Suresh, a temporary employee working as an attendant there. When they returned after lunch, Suresh was not seen, his phone was switched off and cash, gold jewellery deposited in the bank were not found.

Manager Shiva Kumar examined the CCTV footage. Suresh was found to have turned off the CCTVs. Amalapuram DSP Madhava Reddy, Ravulapalem CI. V.krishna, are collecting details of the incident. A case has been registered and is being investigated said police.
