2 staffers of secretariat die of COVID in Andhra Pradesh

Amid growing concerns over the second wave of the novel coronavirus, two secretariat staffers lost their lives and 15 others tested positive in Andhra Pradesh. Vijayanagaram CCS DSP J Paparao also died of COVID-19 on Sunday.

Vizianagaram: Coronavirus claimed two lives at the state secretariat and, so far, 15 secretariat staffers have been found COVID positive in Andhra Pradesh.

The tests for the secretariat's employees are being conducted

In view of rising cases, the tests for the remaining employees are being conducted at the secretariat.

Meanwhile, Vizianagaram Central Crime Station (CCS) DSP J Paparao also died of COVID-19 on Sunday. His wife is also undergoing treatment at a hospital in Vishakhapatnam.

Venkatarami Reddy, president of the Secretariat Employees Union, demanded the 'Work From Home' facility for employees. He said that memorandum in this regard will be submitted to the concerned officials.

Andhra Pradesh reported 7,224 fresh cases of coronavirus on Saturday, the highest in a day after September 26.

The number of active cases went past the 40,000 mark to 40,469, the highest after October 15.
