Tokyo: Two time Asian Champion Ravi Dahiya defeated Columbia's Eduardo Tigreros in his round of 16 bout in 57kg category event here at the Tokyo Olympics.
Seeded fourth in the 57kg division, the freestyle wrestler, was placed in an easy draw yesterday. He was dominant right from the onset taking his Columbian counterpart right on the mat in the first period. But Eduardo, making good use of his feet, made a good comeback against Dahiya.
The second period saw Dahiya showing complete dominance as he got into the groove, registering an easy increment of 13-2.
Dahiya has now advanced to the quarterfinals.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya is said to be one of the biggest medal prospects at the Tokyo Olympics along with Bajrang Puniya.
