It did not take long for Carballes Baena, playing Djokovic for the first time to know the Serbian's capabilities. The Spaniard had to see off three break points before holding in a first service game that lasted close to 10 minutes.

But Carballes Baena showed a glimpse of his potential to fend off Djokovic thus briefly getting the better of Serbian's outstanding defence.

In the second set, however, Djokovic showed his class to easily cast out Baena from the set to win 6-1. The Spaniard tried to stick with Djokovic again at the start of the third set, only to finish second in the set to eventually lose the match in a three straight sets affair.
