The run of Indian contingent ends at Japan Open
India's dismal run in Badminton continued after the run of the Indian contingent came to an end at Japan Open. Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu crashed out of the Japan Open badminton tournament after losing 18-21, 15-21 to local favourite Akane Yamaguchi in a 50-minute women's singles quarterfinal match. India's challenge at the Japan Open-ended with Sai Praneeth's loss to top seed Kento Momota in the semifinals on Saturday.

In the historic one-off test between England and Ireland, the hosts crushed the Irish by 143 runs to win a low-scoring affair. Chasing a tricky target of 182, Ireland were bundled out for 38 in the fourth innings to clinch England's first win against the Irish.

Veteran opener Chris Gayle was on Friday named in the West Indies squad for the three-match ODI series against India, beginning August 8. Left-handed Opener John Campbell, fellow batsman Roston Chase and all-rounder Keemo Paul have all been recalled to the 14-member squad for the series which will be contested on August 8 at the Guyana National Stadium, and on August 11 and 14 at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.

Sri Lanka gave their legendary pacer Lasith Malinga the perfect send-off gift on Friday by notching up a comfortable 91-run win over Bangladesh in Colombo. Malinga himself played a massive role in the win bowling a terrific new-ball spell that saw him pick the wickets of Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar before adding one more at the death to go past Anil Kumble in the all-time wicket-takers list and finish with 338 ODI wickets.
