Los Angeles: My mindset is totally bliss, insisted boxing legend Mike Tyson ahead of his much-anticipated exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr.

Both men also compared competing for belts to taking drugs in a controversial media conference ahead of the fight on 28th November 28th.

Former unified world heavyweight champion, Tyson, who last fought in 2005, will come out of retirement to take on former four-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Despite both fighters being in the fifties neither will wear headguards in the bout that is sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission and scored by the WBC who have created a 'Frontline Battle Belt’ for the victor.

Precautionary measures include both fighters wearing larger than usual 12oz gloves and each of the eight rounds will only last two minutes, something both boxers have condemned as being "for women.”

51-year-old Jones Jr - regarded as one of boxing’s best ever pound-for-pound fighters - competed from 1989 to 2018 and held world titles at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.

Knockout king Tyson – nicknamed the 'The Baddest Man on the Planet’ – took the heavyweight world by storm in 1986 by becoming the youngest ever world champion at 20-years-old before unifying the titles just three fights later.

But the 54-year-old’s career never fully recovered after a shock defeat to Buster Douglas in 1990, which was followed by a rape conviction in 1992, drug abuse and debt issues.
