The last time he had an interview with ETV Bharat, he talked about using San-Ei table for training, and waking up early to acclimatize to conditions for the Tokyo Olympics. His Olympic dream, however, came crashing down after defeat at the hands of lower-ranked Siu Hang Lam.

Epiphany dawned. After much deliberation with his coach Subramaniam Raman, even as he introspected his own game, Sathiyan now has adopted a much aggressive approach. He is more confident than he has ever been. The results too reflect his progress. Sathiyan went on to defeat European Champion Jorgic Darko in Croatia and recently became the first Indian to have featured in the WTT Champions in Budapest.
Come Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the paddler is ready to clinch medal for India. He tells ETV Bharat:
