Doha: Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has won bronze in the 200-metre at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships here on Tuesday. Dutee Chand clocked the timing of 23.24 seconds.
Dutee Chand, who also is Asian Games silver medallist, didn't had the best of the start but she managed to finish the race after trailing for most of the time.
After winning the race Dutee said, “I am really very happy. I missed a medal in 100m & relay. I put too much effort in 100m, was not sure of medal in 200m. Just did my best and I am happy.”
Pre-race favourite Salwa Naser completed the 200m-400m double with a championship record timing. The winner of the 100m event, Olga Safronova, finished with a silver medal.
This was Chand's season-best timing but still not enough to make it to the World Championships
In women’s discus throw, Navjeet Kaur (57.47m) finished fourth with a season-best throw while Kamalpreet Kaur (55.59m) finished fifth in the finals.
