Manchester: Gerard Pique said on Tuesday that Barcelona must kill Manchester United in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Old Trafford if they want to avoid PSG's fate.
The 31-year-old, who made his first steps in the professional game at United to Barca in 2008, has been impressed by the never-say-die attitude brought back by Solskjaer, pointing to the way they made Champions League history by overcoming a 2-0 home loss to beat Paris St Germain 3-1 in the round of 16.
"You cannot leave Manchester United alive. If you can beat them scoring a lot of goals you have to do it, because they have a great team, they have a great history and they showed in the second leg at Paris, even though they played with a lot of young lads coming from the Academy, they won and they qualified in the last minute with that penalty," Pique said.
"So it's a great example for us, we have to be very concentrated from the first minute until the last minute of the tie, we know that Manchester United are very dangerous and that we have to play our best game to try to qualify," he added.
Meanwhile, Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde also agreed with Pique and said Manchester United will be riding high on confidence after defeating PSG.
"This is an opponent that has been strengthened by what happened in the previous knock-out tie (with PSG) and also for the run of results they had in this last period. They arrive in this match with their spirits sky high, they want to show their worth and they want to go through," Valverde said.
