Hyderabad: Shabbir Ali Football Academy (SAFA) won the 7-a side Freedom Cup U-17 Football Tournament by beating Safa B 2-1 in the final at Stadium Of Hope. For SAFA, Imran and captain Qadeer scored the goals. Imran was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance in the final.
This is the first U-17 Tournament Shabbir Ali Football Academy SAFA participated and won it.
The knockout tournament was held from 14th August to 15th August at the Stadium of Hope. A total of 14 teams had participated in this tournament.
On the road to the final, SAFA drew with Petra Sports (1-1) and defeated United FC (2-0) and LSA Reapers (3-1) to qualify for the semifinals where they defeated Ravens FC 3-1. The winners of the summit clash were felicitated in presence of chief guest Srikant David, head Serving Through Sports, the organiser of the tournament.
