Kolkata: Former Indian Super League champions ATK rode on Hitesh Sharma's early goal to go past Mohammedan Sporting 1-0 in a rain-interrupted 129th Durand Cup tie at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan here on Friday.
With ATK's win over Md Sporting, Mohun Bagan qualified for the semifinal from Group B with a match in hand.
Mohun Bagan lead the group table with six points and will take on Indian Navy (one point) in their last group fixture on Saturday.
The game kicked off half an hour late due to rain and Sharma scored in the second minute.
ATK were saved by the woodwork when a Vanlalbiaa Chhangte's shot from Kouassi's through ball hit the crossbar.
ATK won their first match of the tournament, but it came only in their last league tie as they bowed out with four points from three outings.
Mohammedan Sporting also finished with three points from as many matches.
Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC's tie with I-League debutants TRAU FC was called off in the 15th minute because of heavy lightning and thundershowers at the Sailen Manna Stadium in Howrah.
