Amsterdam: Cristiano Ronaldo and David Neres scored either side of half-time as Ajax came back to draw 1-1 with Juventus in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

After the match, Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri said that although his side was rocked by Neres' 46th-minute equaliser, they improved as the game went on and are in a strong position heading into the second leg.

Allegri's Ajax counterpart Erik ten Hag said his players played well for 99.9 per cent of the match, but dropped their attention for one moment and were duly punished by Ronaldo.

'Juve', who are bidding to reach the Champions League final for the third time in five seasons, will host the second leg at Juventus Stadium next Tuesday.
