IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals set 185 runs target for Rajasthan Royals

After Delhi Capitals' top order failed to Jofra Archer's brilliant bowling aided by Rahul Tewatia and Kartik Tyagi's tight spells, their lower-order did the bulk of the job to help the team set a 185 runs target for Rajasthan Royals.

Sharjah: In the 23rd match of Indian Premier League 2020, Delhi Capitals posted 184 for 8 in 20 overs here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday. It was a stop-start display of batting by Delhi. After their top order failed to Jofra Archer's brilliant bowling aided by Rahul Tewatia and Kartik Tyagi's tight spells, lower-order did the bulk of the job to help the team set a 185 runs target for Rajasthan Royals.

Asked to bat first, Delhi lost wickets at regular intervals. In the second over of their innings, they lost out of form Shikhar Dhawan. However, a 30-run partnership between Prithvi Shaw and captain Shreyas Iyer took Delhi near to half-century. But, the fluent partnership came to halt in the fifth over when Jofra Archer struck for the second time in the game. Both the openers were dismissed by Archer.

In a span of one over, Iyer was also removed by a brilliant thrower from youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Rishabh Pant too didn't last long as he fell victim to a brilliant piece of fielding effort, effected by substitute fielder Manan Vohra and Rahul Tewatia.

With DC struggling at 109 for 5, their all-rounder Marcus Stoinis came to their rescue by playing a 30-ball 39-runs innings. Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer's 30-run partnership brought Delhi back in the game.

Lately, Hetmyer played a quickfire 45 runs knock off 24 balls before felling perry to young fast bowler Kartik Tyagi.

In the death overs, Axar Patel's 8-ball 17 and Harshal Patel's 15-ball 16 helped Delhi set a robust target for the Royals.

Archer was Royals' most successful bowler as he picked up three wickets giving away 24 runs from four overs. Tyagi, Tewatia and Andrew Tye took one wicket apiece.

Royals have not lost any matches at this ground so far.
