MI's win means Sunrisers Hyderabad are into the playoffs. Both KKR and SRH have 12 points in 14 matches, but net-run-rate helped SRH to edge out the Kolkata side.
After bowlers restricted KKR for 133, Quinton de Kock (30), Rohit Sharma (55) and Suryakumar Yadav (46) made things easy for hosts of the match MI to earn a comfortable win. As Prasidh Krishna removed de Kock on team score 46 for 1, Sharma and Yadav built unbeaten 88 runs second wicket partnership that took MI home with 23 balls to spare.
Disciplined MI topple CSK from No. 1 spot
With this win, MI grabbed the no. 1 position at the points table with 18 points in 14 matches. Their nine-wicket win improved their net-run-rate which eventually helped them to topple Chennai Super Kings from the numero uno position.
Earlier, MI skipper Rohit Sharma winning the toss asked KKR to bat. A disciplined MI bowling attack restricted them for 133 runs.
Uthappa plays 40 off 47 balls innings
Destructive Chris Lynn's dismissal saw MI thumping their authority in the game. When Lynn slammed 41 off 29 balls Robin Uthappa was patchy as the latter played notorious 40 runs innings off 47 balls, an innings which can't even be seen in ODIs these days.
Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell's successive dismissals in back to back deliveries amplified their woes.
