Chennai: Ace English seamer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the second Test against India due to an arm injury. Archer also missed England's training session on Thursday.
"Archer will miss the second Test against India in Chennai starting on Saturday after having an injection in his right elbow," said ECB in a statement.
"The injection follows discomfort the fast bowler experienced during the 227-run win in the first Test at the same venue.
The issue is not related to any previous injury and it is hoped the treatment will allow the condition to settle down quickly, allowing the player to return to action in time for the third Test in Ahmedabad."
Archer was impressive with the ball in the first Test, which England won by 227 runs to take 1-0 lead in the ongoing four-match Test series.
With Archer ruled out of the second Test, Jimmy Anderson can retain his spot in playing XI.

It must be noted that Joe Root and England team management was pondering resting Anderson for the second Test to keep him fresh for the day-night affair, when there may be more conventional swing from the pink ball.
