2019 World Cup: SA fast bowler Lungi Ngidi suffers hamstring injury

Ngidi bowled four overs and conceded 34 runs in four overs without taking a wicket as Bangladesh set 331 runs daunting target for South Africa.

London: South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngiddi has suffered a hamstring injury which forced him to leave the ground. He didn't return to bowl again against Bangladesh here at The Oval on Sunday.

Notwithstanding, it was a massive blow for South Africa. They have already Dale Steyn out with an injury while Hashim Amla missed out Sunday's match against Bangladesh.

The right-hand batsman is recovering from the head knock which he received from a Jofra Archer bouncer against England on Thursday.

Ngidi went wicketless in today's match. He struggled with the new ball. He bowled four overs and conceded 34 runs without taking a wicket as Bangladesh set 331 runs daunting target for South Africa.

Shakib-Al-Hasan (75), Mushfiqur Rahim (78) built 142 runs fourth wicket partnership to build the foundation of Bangladesh's innings. Later Mahmudullah (46), Mosaddek Hossain (26) and Mohammad Mithun (21) took them past 300 runs mark, their first in World Cup.
