Hyderabad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not just a name but an emotion for Indian cricket fans. Commonly known as 'captain cool' among cricket enthusiasts, Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981.

MSD, who is also celebrated as one of the biggest cricket icons in the world, turned 38 on Sunday. Born in a small town of Ranchi, Dhoni decorated himself to become one of the best captains and stumper in the world.

MSD started his international career with a duck against Bangladesh, and then went on to win everything in world cricket.

MSD is the only cricketer in the history of the game to win all three major ICC trophies as a captain -- ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, ICC World Cup in 2011 and ICC Champions trophy in 2013.

Throughout his career in white-ball cricket, Dhoni has always been reckoned as a force to reckon with. It was his cool and calm demeanour that made him a cricketing legend.

In 2007, the cricket expert and fans were stunned when BCCI named Dhoni India's captain for the inaugural WT20 in South Africa. Proving his captaincy skills he led India to their first major ICC tournament win after 1983.

Subsequently, he was named captain of Indian ODI team to fill the shoes of former skipper Rahul Dravid.

The 38-year-old had led Team India to 200 ODIs, in which Men-in-Blue won 110 and lost 74. He guided India to win in 43 matches out of 73 on home soil.

MS Dhoni represented Team India in 90 Tests, 349 ODIs and 98 T20Is. He has scored 10723 runs in ODIs and 4876 runs in Test. Dhoni also holds the record for the most number of stumpings- 123- in international cricket.
