Hyderabad: The 12th edition of Indian Premier League is just around the corner and the IPL franchise will be gearing up for the season.

When this new form of cricket tournament started way back in 2008, everyone thought that the batsmen will make life hell for every bowler but surprisingly bowlers have been equally brilliant as batsmen in the last 11 seasons of the competition.

Interestingly, it took 2 seasons for an Indian batsman to hit a century but in the first season itself, Laxmipathy Balaji took a hat-trick for Chennai Super Kings. After 11 seasons leg spinner, Amit Mishra has the highest number of hat-tricks under his belt, which is three.

All in all, in the last 11 years IPL has seen 17 hat-tricks out of which 13 were picked by the spinners and rest were picked by the seamers but there are some unknown or shocking names in this list as well.

Let's take you through the list of lesser-known players who bagged hat-tricks in IPL

5. Ajit Chandila- Rajasthan Royals 2012

Former Rajasthan Royals player Ajit Chandila, who is banned for life by the BCCI for his role in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, has clinched a hat-trick in the 2012 edition of IPL against the Pune Warriors India.

The RR team was then captained by Rahul Dravid who tossed the new ball to Chandila, who did not let his captain down by picking wicket of Pune team's opener Jesse Ryder, captain Sourav Ganguly and Robin Uthappa. The off-spinner finished with figures of 4 for 13. He played a vital role in teams win and was adjudged as the man of the match.

2. Yuvraj Singh, Kings XI Punjab 2009

Everyone knows that Yuvraj Singh is a decent allrounder in limited overs format as the left-arm leg spinner has clinched wickets for his team at crucial moments of the game but surprisingly Yuvraj is the only bowler to have pick two hat-tricks in a season.

While captaining the KXIP side in 2009 Yuvraj took the first hat-trick against RCB in which he clinched the wicket of Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher and Robin Uthappa. Despite his brilliant effort in the bowling RCB won the match by 8 runs.

In the same season, the Punjab skipper took another hat-trick which was against Deccan Chargers in Johannesburg. Yuvraj's hat-trick contributed in a thrilling win over eventual champions DC. 1. Rohit Sharma, Deccan Chargers 2009

This is the most shocking name in the list as we don't often see Indian vice-captain, Rohit Sharma bowl in cricket. He took the fifth hat trick of the IPL playing against Mumbai Indians.

Rohit dismissed Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh of consecutive deliveries and completed the hat-trick by taking the wicket of JP Duminy. Rohit Sharma's hat-trick came at a point where Mumbai's chances of a victory were getting dimmer in the match. Rohit Sharma got his fourth wicket in the same over dismissing Saurabh Tiwari.

Rohit Sharma in this match registered his best bowling figures in IPL ever. His bowling figures of 4 for 6 from 2 overs is also the second-best figures in this season so far.
