Chennai: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday won the toss and elected to ball first against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at MA Chidambaram Stadium here in the fifth match of the Indian Premier League.
An upbeat Kolkata, after their super show in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, will look to better their past records against MI. Overall, in 27 matches both sides have clashed thus far, MI have beaten Kolkata 21 times whereas Kolkata came up trumps in just 6 matches. In the last 11 matches, KKR has won only once.
Pitch Report: The pitch is a typical Chepauk wicket. The black soil will assist spinners and slow bowlers in the middle overs and hence it would be up to the batsman to get their respective teams a good start and make best of the powerplay overs.
Eoin Morgan: We are going to bowl first. Looks similar to the last one, not sure if the dew will come in. We are delighted, we are trying to play an aggressive brand of cricket. It's a challenge to continue in that manner. No changes in the side.
Rohit: We would have fielded first as well. There was some dew in the first game against RCB, but the ball was turning. Last game we were 20 runs short, so we need to bat well. Of course, you want to win every game, but we didn't play to our potential in the first game. We need to understand our mistakes and learn from them. We got only 30 runs in the last 4 overs, that was our mistake. Let's hope we rectify our mistakes. Lynn misses and de Kock is back.
KKR will take the field with the same team they played in the last match. However, in Mumbai's camp, Quinton de Kock returns to the side, replacing Chris Lynn.
