Earlier, after winning the toss Indian captain Mithali Raj opted to bat first and soon her decision backfired as the hosts were reduced to 5/2.

Mithali along with Punam Raut stayed a bit at the crease but was not able to do much damage as India's run-rate went further down. Soon both Mithali and Punam were sent back to the stands.

However, after their dismissals, Proteas quickly wrapped up the Indian tailenders.

It is also notable that India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa Women.
