Potchefstroom (South Africa): Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a century, while Divyansh Saxena scored a fifty each as India thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first semi-final of ICC U-19 World Cup on Tuesday here.

India beat Pakistan to enter final

It was a one-sided affair as chasing the below-par 173-runs target, India dominated from the very first ball of their innings and crossed the finishing line in just 35.2 overs. The defending champions were never put in trouble by Pakistan bowlers, who remained wicketless throughout the match.

In what is the first-ever 10-wicket win in knockouts of the U19 World Cup, Jaiswal smashed unbeaten 105 runs on 113 balls and his innings consisted of 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan, who opted to bat first, was bowled out for 172. Fast bowler Sushant Mishra was the highest wicket-taker for India with three scalps, which included Pakistan captain and top scorer Rohail Nazir.

Pakistan lost two wickets in the first 10 overs which put the breaks on their scoring rate. Mishra dismissed opener Mohammad Huraira in the second over after which Fahad Munir fell to Ravi Bishnoi in the ninth. Opener Haider Ali and Nazir held for nearly 19 overs before the former fell to Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Pakistan's scoring rate hardly improved despite the presence of Nazir at one end as wickets fell on the other. Qasim Akram was ran-out thanks to an almighty mixup which resulted in both batsmen at the same end of the pitch. Mohammad Harris then fell in the 35th over to a brilliant take by Divyaansh Saxena at deep square leg off Atharva Ankolekar.

Kartik Tyagi then dismissed Irfan Khan while Bishnoi got his second wicket of the day in the form of Abbas Afridi. Mishra then dismissed Nazir on 62 off 102 balls after which Tyagi struck again by dismissing Tahir Hussain. Mishra wrapped things up with the wicket of Aamir Ali.

In the summit clash, India will take on the winner of the second semi-final, which will be played between Bangladesh and New Zealand on February 6.

Brief scores: Pakistan 172 in 43.1 overs (Rohail Nazir 62, Haider Ali 56; Sushant Mishra 3/28) vs India 176/0 in 35.2 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 105, Divyaansh Saxena 59; Fahad Munir 0/12)
