London: English all-rounder Chris Woakes trapped former Aussie skipper Steven Smith in front of the wicket for 92 after the stylish 30-year-old batsman resumed his innings having been forced to retire hurt.
On the fourth day of the second Ashes Test between England and Australia, when Smith was batting at 80 a booming short ball from England's debutant Jofra Archer hit the Oz cricketers neck and he immediately fell on the ground. Following the incident, Smith was forced to retire hurt and did not come to bat until their doctor cleared him off any major injuries.
Though when Smith walked back to resume his innings, he was not able to do much damage to English bowlers with his destructive batting as he added just 12 more runs before getting dismissed. The 30-year-old has already scripted a massive Ashes record to his name.
With his 92 runs knock, Smith became the first-ever player in Ashes history to score seven consecutive fifties.

Smith, who was also Australia's hero in their first Test with his twin tons, once again came to rescue his side on Saturday when the visitors needed him to step up the most. Riding ton Smith' brilliant knock, Australia were bowled out for 250, in reply to England's first innings total of 258 runs.
