Ashes: Roy fit and fine, confirms captain Root

Leeds: England skipper Joe Root on Wednesday confirmed that opener Jason Roy has passed the concussion test and will be fit to play in the third Ashes Test.

Roy was hit on the neck while practising in the nets at Headingley on Tuesday but passed the subsequent medical checks and is expected to open England's batting against Australia.

Talking on Roy's condition he said, "Jason's (Roy) been monitored quite closely as you'd expect. He's undergone a couple of concussion tests so far and scored really well. So as it stands, fully expect him to be fit and ready to play tomorrow."England captain Root also said he expects his side to raise their level again in Leeds after a draw in the second Test at Lord's.Headingley will mark Root's eighth Ashes Test as captain and he is yet to win against Australia as skipper.England trail the series 1-0 having lost at Edgbaston in the opening Test.
