Kolkata: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is no longer the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and will be in another role. Although he did not specify what he would do in the near future, he made it apparent that he would target something. It may be recalled that Ganguly found himself out of favour for the second term as the BCCI president a few days ago. He is set to be replaced by another former India cricketer Roger Binny.

The former BCCI president said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Sachin Tendulkar are not made in a day. He said this at a promotional event in the city on Thursday. "Everything has an end. Everything has to start from scratch. Nothing is built in a day. Narendra Modi did not become Prime Minister in a day. Sachin's success is also due to long-term hard work. I have been an administrator for so long now I will do something else," Ganguly said at a city hotel.

A video was shown at the event, showing Stuart Binny bowling. Apart from talking about that video, the former BCCI president also took a veiled jibe at potential board president Roger Binny. "It's not Roger Binny, it's Stuart Binny," he said. During his time, the former India skipper also highlighted the various achievements of the BCCI. He said, "We have done IPL even in the midst of Covid. That too in another country. Commonwealth Games (W) India's women won silver. Although there was a golden opportunity to win the gold. There is great energy in Indian cricket.''

After succeeding as a cricketer, Ganguly tried his hands at cricket administration at CAB and then BCCI for eight years. But Ganguly feels that playing as a player was more difficult than any other role. "The game is always very difficult. A lot of time is available as an administrator. But once you get out as a cricketer, you don't get another chance. But many things can be changed as an administrator. You see, cricket has changed. A lot of good things have happened in Indian cricket in the last three years," Ganguly said.

Ganguly is optimistic that India will play well in the T20 World Cup as well. "Rohit Sharma's India is a good enough team. Besides preparing, they are travelling in Australia. This is a great team and I hope they will play well," he rounded off.
