In September 2019, Sindhu, soon after winning her maiden BWF World Championships gold, had made a request to Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to issue her land to set up a badminton academy in Visakhapatnam. At that time, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised her that he would look into her request.
Revenue Department Chief Secretary V.Usharani on Thursday issued orders shifting two acres out of three acres belonging to the Department of Animal Husbandry to the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs in Survey Nos. 72/11, 83/5 and 83/6 in Chinagadili under Visakhapatnam Rural area. The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs will donate the two acres to the PV Sindhu Badminton Academy. The land will be transferred to the PV Sindhu Badminton Academy after submitting the Academy Registration Certificate and IT returns for a period of three years and fulfilling all other conditions as per the regulations.

PV Sindhu thanked CM Jagan
“Thanks to Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy for allocating space for the construction of the academy. The CM is determined to develop sports in Andhra Pradesh. There is no badminton academy in Visakhapatnam, so it was decided to set up an academy with the highest level of infrastructure there. We will build the academy in the first phase. The next step is the proposal to set up a sports school. I'm still playing. Will take on training responsibilities at the academy after retiring from the game. We will provide all the details requested by the government soon," said PV Sindhu.
