Hyderabad: Middle-distance runner Tintu Luka decided to retire from track sports owing to chronic injuries. Based on her decision coach PT Usha sent a letter to the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), asking the federation to withdraw her name from future competitions.
The athlete won a total of three medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014 editions. Luka didn't attend the training at Usha School of Athletics since October due to injury.
Later, Luka decided to withdraw her name from the track sport. Recently, she had to be left out of the Asian Games contingent representing India due to an injury.
“It seems she has decided to end her successful career. Her coach PT Usha has sent a letter to the AFI asking it to remove her name from the list of campers,” sources were quoted as saying.
Since then she had become a star athlete in Indian athletics contingent. However, her chronic injuries forced her to leave Usha's athletics school last month.
