Hyderabad: Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn will soon be joining the OTT bandwagon with the forthcoming web series Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness. For essaying a gritty cop in the series which is being adapted from the British series Luther for the Indian audience, Ajay will be taking home a heavy paycheck.
The buzz around the series suggests that Ajay has charged Rs. 125 crores for this limited episode series. Consequently, Devgn is now among the highest-paid actors on OTT platforms alongside Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar. According to a webloid report, the remuneration also includes some cross-promotional activities, social media posts, appearances on reality shows etc.
While coming onboard for the crime drama web series Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness, Ajay had earlier said, "My attempt has always been to tell unique stories and work with good talent. The idea is to raise the bar of entertainment in India. The digital world excites me."

The 52-year-old actor, who has played a cop in many films had said that donning the uniform on-screen is not new to him, but this character in Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness is more intense, complex and dark. Talking more about his role in the show, Ajay had said, "What drew me most to his persona, is that he is possibly the greyest character you may come across in recent times."
Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India, the Hotstar Specials series will soon be going into production and will be shot across iconic locales of Mumbai. Mounted on a lavish scale, Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness will be helmed by Rajesh Mapuskar. The series will drop on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium by the end of 2021.
