Mumbai: Television actor Rajesh Kareer, who hails from Punjab is facing a severe financial crisis and has no hope left when he will be working again. The actor took to social media to seek monetary help.
In an emotional video, Rajesh is seen seeking financial help as he fights back tears. The actor who has worked in TV show Begusarai has made Mumbai his home for more than 15 years. But, after the coronavirus-induced lockdown, he is contemplating to return to his hometown. Sadly, he has no money left to return to his native in Punjab.
Rajesh shared his plight in a video and said, "Baat yeh hai ki… agar sharam karunga toh yeh zindagi bohot bhari padne wali hai... Bas itni hi guzaarish karna chahta hoon aap logon se ki mujhe madad ki bohot sakht zaroorat hai. Haalaat bohot hi naazuk bane hue hai humare (The thing is… If I feel ashamed now, then life can become very difficult. I am in desperate need of help and I appeal to you. My situation is quite critical)."
Kareer also said that being out of work for the past few months, the going is getting tougher for him with each passing day.

"Aap logon se meri yeh humble request hai ki bhale hi Rs 300-400 dein. Itni agar aap log madad karenge toh… Kyunki shooting kab start hogi, kab na ho, kuch pata nahi. Mujhe kaam mile ya na mile, kuch pata nahi hai. Life ekdum block si ho gayi hai. Kuch samajh nahi aa raha. Jeena chahta hoon (I want to make a humble request to you to contribute Rs 300-400 if you can. If you can help with this much… I don’t know when shoots will resume or if I will get any work. Life has come to a standstill and I am unable to understand anything. I want to live)," Rajesh said fighting back tears.
As the television industry remains paralysed by lockdown, many actors and workers are scared. Non-payment of dues by many producers are just adding to the woes. For many, it is either turning into a struggle with mental health or a matter of survival.
Recently, TV actor Manmeet Grewal committed suicide reportedly owing to financial constraints. Television actor Ashiesh Roy is in hospital in a critical condition and has sought financial help for a dialysis. Hamari Bahu Silk actors, including Zaan Khan and Chahat Pandey, have shared their struggles due to non-payment of dues. Actress Nia Sharma has revealed that several of her friends in the industry were in severe financial crunch because they had not been paid for months. And these are just a few cases.
On a related note, the Maharashtra government on Sunday permitted resumption of shootings for films, teleserials, advertisements, OTT, etc with immediate effect, an official said.
