While the rerun of the mythological serials Ramayan and Mahabharat, proved great for DD and the actors, doctors feels that it has caused trouble for some families. Few kids have lost their eyesight as they tried to practice bow-and-arrow games.

Mumbai: The mythological serials Ramayan and Mahabharat, which is over three-decade-old, made a historic comeback on the small screen and in no time it broke TRP records. While the re-run of the epics proved great for DD and the actors, doctors feels that it has caused trouble for some.

Ramayan and Mahabharat have great viewership and the new generation is watching it too. But, some kids have lost their eyesight as they tried to practice bow-and-arrow games.

According to sources, about 12 children in Hyderabad have lost eyesight of one eye in the past few days. The doctors said that it's not due to coronavirus, but they are trying to copy the bow and arrow technique as the characters do it in Ramayan and Mahabharat.

"When Ramayana was telecast about two decades back, we saw many bow-and-arrow injuries. For about 15 years we did not see these injuries, but the numbers are starting to rise again. In an attempt to copy the central characters (from TV shows), kids make their own bow-and-arrow games," a renowned doctor told sources.

Meanwhile, Ramanand Sagar's blockbuster mythological series Ramayan has started screening on Star Plus after DD, on public demand.
