Kolkata: A keeper of his words, rapper Badshah who was deluged in plagiarism charges for his latest track Genda Phool has extended financial help to the original creator of Boroloker Biti Lo Ratan Kahar. He has sent a sum of Rs 5 lakh to the veteran folk artist.
In a conversation with ETV Bharat, Ratan Kahar's son Shivnath Kahar confirmed the same: "Badshah had promised to lend monetary help. He has helped my father financially. A total of 5 lakh rupees have been debited to my father's bank account."
"Due to the nationwide lockdown he couldn't come here, but, he has promised to visit my father once the situation improves and the lockdown gets over," he added.
Shivnath further said: "Both of them sent out best wishes for each other."

Earlier, Badshah's teammate Dipankar Roy said: "I have had a detailed discussion with Badshah about Ratan Kahar. Even though the video has already been released, it will be edited and Kahar's name will be mentioned as co-lyricist. This will be done in addition to monetary help, Badhsha has told me."
Badshah's latest mix Genda Phool is inspired by the lyrics of an old Bengali folk hit Boroloker Biti Lo. The popular Bengali folk song was created by Ratan Kahar back in 1972 and was originally sung by Swapna Chakraborty.
