Washington: American actor Zoe Kravitz has been roped in to play the role of Catwoman in the upcoming film The Batman.
Helmed by Matt Reeves the first in the trilogy of the Batman series will show Kravitz as the anti-heroine and sometimes the love interest of the Caped Crusader.
The actor is all set to play the lead opposite to Robert Pattinson who will essay the role of Batman in the Warner Bros-DC Comic flick.
If news reports are to be believed, the main role was offered to Kravitz, Zazie Beetz, Eiza Gonzalez and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. But ultimately, the Assassination of a High School President actress won out after being shortlisted.
Though no official announcements have been made regarding the dates, the film's pre-production is expected to begin this summer.
A source close to the makers of the film revealed that the filming could start in late 2019 or early 2020.

Produced by Dylan Clark, Reeves' much-awaited directorial venture The Batman is scheduled to hit the silver screens on June 25, 2021.
Filmmaker Matt Reeves, who was behind the last two films in the Planet of the Apes franchise, is set to direct the trilogy of Batman films starring Pattinson.
Ben Affleck was the last actor to play the caped crusader on the big screen in 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017's Justice League. He quit as Batman following Justice League in 2017.
