Los Angeles: Actor Orlando Bloom said that he felt a bit awkward while filming intimate scenes with co-star Cara Develingne for the new fantasy series Carnival Row.

During the premiere of the show, Bloom spoke about the racy and violent scenes in the show.

"It's always a little awkward, honestly, there's a lot of people standing around watching you pretending to have sex, if that's the same rule for violence or whatever it may be. I don't think it's intentionally gratuitous, it leads into the fantasy genre of the show, it's good," he said.

The actors play a pair of star-crossed lovers in Carnival Row.

Carnival Row is a victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose rich homelands were invaded by the empires of man.

This growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans in the grimiest section of the city, forbidden to live, love or fly with freedom.

Apart from Orlando and Cara, the series stars David Gyasi, Tamzin Merchant, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Indira Varma, Jared Harris, Simon McBurney, Arty Froushan and Caroline Ford.

The series will premiere on August 30 on Amazon Prime Video.
