Yami Gautam opens up on impromptu wedding, says Aditya Dhar asked her, 'Are you ready?'

Yami Gautam and her Uri director Aditya Dhar's hush-hush romance managed to remain so until the couple announced their wedding on June 4. The actor, who succeeded in keeping her personal life inaccessible to media. has now opened up about tying the knot amid pandemic.

Hyderabad: Bollywood actor Yami Gautam is among the celebrities who tied the knot amid pandemic. The actor tied the knot with Uri director Aditya Dhar in her hometown of Bilaspur, in Himachal Pradesh. The actor surprised her fans and friends in the industry when she dropped pictures of her wedding on Instagram. Yami and Aditya garnered praise for keeping their wedding ceremony real, connected to roots.

For her wedding, Yami wore her mother's 33 years old saree and did her own make-up on this special day with her sister Surilie Gautam by her side. When asked about her impromptu wedding, Yami in a latest virtual interview revealed that they did not plan it yet it "happened in a most beautiful way."

Talking about her wedding, Yami said: "This is actually what I wanted, this is who we are. And I'm glad it resonated with so many people... We started interacting during the promotions of Uri. And that is when we started wooing each other, and our friendship started. It's been over two years, and we were like 'let's get married', and our families were equally happy, probably even more happy."

She continued, "We were just supposed to get engaged, and then were going to let time take its due course, but my 'nani' was like 'listen, this engagement and all is not a part of our culture, so how about getting married?' And then Aditya asked me, 'Are you ready? Shall we?' I don't know what it means, honestly. I'm still not able to absorb the feeling of being married. I feel the same, maybe happier."

Yami and Aditya came close during promotions of Uri. The friendship turned into love and in nearly two and a half years they were ready to take their relationship to the next level.

On the work front, Yami has wrapped up shooting for her upcoming films Dasvi and A Thursday. The actor is currently in Kolkata for the shooting of her forthcoming film Lost in which she will be seen essaying the role of a crime reporter. The actor has as many as three films in her kitty which will be announced soon.
