Mumbai: Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt was snapped at Santacruz police station on Monday to record his statement in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. The director reportedly revealed that Sushant was never offered any lead role in Sadak 2. He said that the flick was always going to be made with actor Sanjay Dutt as the lead, as it was touted as the sequel to the original Sadak.
Mahesh also added that he had met the M.S. Dhoni starrer only twice, once in 2018 when Sushant came to see him and a second time when the late actor was unwell in the month of February 2020, and Bhatt had gone to see him at his Bandra residence.
If reports are to be believed, the director further said that that he was close to Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, only because she worked with him in his 2018 film Jalebi.

Apparently, Rhea used to respect him as a mentor because he gave her a chance in the film. The Sadak director further revealed that he had no intention of casting Sushant in any of his films and clarified that there was no discussion to cast him in Sadak 2.
Moreover, he stated that the Kedarnath starrer was interested to work with him. He even asked Mahesh to give him at least a small role in any of his projects.
For unversed, Sushant was found hanging at his Bandra residence on June 14.
