Mumbai: Akshay Kumar once said that he had always been a gay icon since long. And no wonder why Twinkle Khanna's mother Dimple Kapadia thought him to be one.
In a chat show, while speaking about her marriage with the Kesari star, Twinkle admitted that her mother had warned her as she had heard a lot of stories about him.

When Akshay asked her hand in marriage, Twinkle revealed how her mother reacted to his proposal. She said: "So, my mother and me are sitting together on the couch and he's sitting opposite. My mother's friend was there and he's doing acupressure for her back or something. So my mother says, 'I have to tell you something'. So, I said tell me. 'No, no, after he (Akshay) goes'. But when I insisted, she said that one of our friends was doing a piece on a gay newspaper and says that Akshay is gay. So, I almost fainted!"

The only way to convince her mother was to make her believe that they both will live happily together, said Twinkle. Hence, her mother Dimple kept a condition before their wedding, saying "You both live together for one year and then we'll see." The couple then stayed together for a year before finally getting married in 2001.
Meanwhile, the couple is currently spending lockdown days together at home with their kids.
