Besides screening Bengali films, TBFF will also showcase three international films. The 3rd edition of the film fest will start from this Friday.

Telangana Bengali Film Festival to kick start its third edition

Hyderabad: Celebrating the rich culture of Bengali cinema, Hyderabad Bangalee Samity in association with the Tourism and Culture Government of Telangana, Moving Images and UtsabCultural Association is all set to present the 3rd edition of Telangana Bengali Film Festival in the city.

The film festival is scheduled to commence from December 6 and will conclude on December 8, 2019.

Actor-turned-politician Bratya Basu and film fest's brand ambassador Saswata Chatterjee will grace the event as the chief guests.

The three days long film fest will showcase 22 movies in total, out of which 11 are feature films, eight are short films and three, international films.

Films including Aparna Sen's Ghare Bairey Aaj, Arindal Sil's Mitin Mashi and Anumita Dasgupta's Bohomaan will be screened at the mega gala, alongside movies such as Kolkatay Kohinoor, Samsara, Nirban, Hridmajharey and Sahobashey among others.

Based on Rabindranath Tagore's classic novel titled Ghare Bairey, the Aparna Sen directorial that goes by the name Ghare Bairey Aaj is the modern retelling of the 1926 novel.

The film is set to open the much-awaited film festival in the city.

While Dasgupta's Bohomaan will feature Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen together, Sil's Mitin Mahi will present Koel Mullick in a different avatar.

Besides this, films from across the country such as By The Grace of God, Ode To My Father and Loveless will also be shown at the movie mela.

Speaking about the event, Hyderabad Bangalee Samity chairman Ranjan Kumar Roy Choudhury said: "TBFF - Aayna, 2019 will look to unite the huge Bengali diaspora living in Hyderabad and beyond and help them connect with the artistic, social, cultural and political ethos of their roots."

Looking forward to the festival, TBFF director concluded: "This is the 3rd edition of TBFF and we are overjoyed to bring some renowned names of Bollywood and Tollywood film industries in Hyderabad. We look forward to your gracious presence during the three days of the festival."
