Kodaikanal police have registered a case against two Tamil actors for visiting restricted tourist destination without e-pass. Forest department officials caught them and imposed a fine of Rs 2000 each.

Kodaikanal (Tamil Nadu): A case against Tamil actors Vimal and Soori has been registered at the Kodaikanal police station as the duo visited a restricted forest area in Tamil Nadu's Kodaikanal without an e-pass amid the curfew, police officials said.

Recently, the photos of the actors, Vimal and Soori, fishing in the protected dense forest of Perijam Lake in Kodaikanal went viral on social media.

The investigation revealed that both of them arrived at Kodaikanal on July 18 without an e-pass and were heading to Perijam Lake without taking a permission from the Forest Department.

Vimal and Soori were fined Rs 2,000 each for entering Kodaikanal at a time when the entry of visitors to the tourist destination has been suspended for over three months now due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Three temporary employees who took them to Lake were sacked. In the case, the actors have also been accused of spreading the disease during the pandemic.

Kodaikanal Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Aathmanathan told ANI, "Vimal and Soori came to Kodaikanal, it's confirmed. We have registered a case against both the actors under two sections."
