SSR death row: CBI, NCB, ED probe updates

As per latest updates, Rhea Chakraborty's father Indrajeet Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput's flatmate Siddharth Pithani has faced the CBI. While the NCB has arrested Abdul Basit Parihar and Zaid Vilatra, ED called Varun Mathur for questioning.

Mumbai: The death case of Sushant Singh Rajput is getting murkier with each passing day as new developments in the case are coming to the forefront.

Top-notch investigating agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are probing the case from multiple angles.

Going by the recent development in the case, the CBI on Wednesday has quizzed Rhea Chakraborty's father Indrajit Chakraborty and Sushant's flatmate Siddharth Pithani to get a better understanding of the case.

On the other hand, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Abdul Basit Parihar from Bandra, who had a connection with Samuel Miranda, an associate of Rhea Chakraborty. Miranda is accused of procuring drugs on instructions of Rhea's brother Showik Chakraborty, said the NCB.

The agency has also arrested Zaid Vilatra from Mumbai in connection with the case. Vilatra disclosed that he runs an eatery shop at Bandra, which was not giving any pecuniary gains since lockdown. He also disclosed that he got into the drug peddling especially bud, through which he used to earn a substantial amount of money, said the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Meanwhile, Varun Mathur, a friend and business partner of the late actor in a firm, was called for questioning by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai on Wednesday.

As per investigating officials, the mobile phone chats of Rhea Chakraborty indicated procurement and consumption of drugs, the successive leads of which were shared by the ED with the NCB and the CBI.

On August 19, the Supreme Court had asked the CBI to investigate the case related to the actor's death, while holding that the FIR registered in Patna was legitimate.

The agency had registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty, Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi and others in connection with Sushant's case.
