Hyderabad: Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein marked the Bollywood debuts of R Madhavan and Dia Mirza in 2001. The film, directed by Gautham Menon, was a remake of his Tamil film Minnale. Vashu Bhagnani had bankrolled the film and now after nearly two decades, his son Jackky Bahgnani has decided to make a sequel of the romantic drama.

If reports are to be believed, Jackky has also found a director to helm the project. Ravi Udyawar, who earlier directed Mom starring late Sridevi, will reportedly direct the sequel. According to a webloid report, two members of the original cast viz. Dia Mirza and Madhavan have been retained to feature in cameos and whether they will reprise their respective roles from the original film is still unknown.

RHTDM revolved around the characters of Maddy (played by R. Madhavan) and Reena (Dia). It had Maddy impersonating Reena's love interest Rajeev (Saif Ali Khan) and wooing her. The film was a huge musical hit when released in the early 2000s. The songs of film such as 'Zara zara', 'Sach keh raha hai' and 'Dil ko tumse' became popular upon release. Bollywood debut of Madhavan and Dia also starred Saif Ali Khan in lead role.

For the sequel, makers are thinking of roping in a fresh pair and for the same reason, they might approach Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon for the lead roles.
