Mumbai: Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty in a product launch event on Friday revealed that he has always performed his own stunts in his films.
The 58-year-old actor who has made a distinct identity in Hindi films as an action hero said that he always wanted to prove himself worthy of it.
Interacting with the media during the event in Mumbai, the actor said: "I never dreamt that I would end up doing such dangerous stunts. I did it because even after the success of my first film a particular critic who was very very powerful at that time called me wooden, called me doorknob, said that I should get back to the restaurant trade. So I took that up as a challenge."
He further said that he didn't learn acting professionally. "Since I have got a chance in films I should do something so that I can be different, I can dare to be different," he added.
He continued to add: "I still remember that in my first film I did a fire stunt, where I was sitting on a bike near a swimming pool. I was really scared and insecure, but I did it because I had to prove myself."
When asked about the piece of advice he would give to his son Ahan Shetty, Suniel said that he has advised his son to build strength to overcome failure.
Earlier, actor Suniel Shetty has performed several action sequences with much eclat in films like 'Mohra', 'Border', 'Qayamat: City Under Threat', 'Dus', 'Main Hoon Na' among others.
