Mumbai: Model and actor Payal Rohatgi have been denied bail on Monday. She will now remain in custody till December 24, 2019.

On December 15, the Bigg Boss participant was arrested Bundi police in Rajasthan for the alleged objectionable remarks that she made against the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

SP Mamta Gupta has confirmed the arrest of Payal Rohatgi and said that a case has been registered against her.

The complaint was filed by Rajasthan Youth Congress general secretary Charmesh Sharma in October at Bundi Sadar police station, following which the police registered a case under section 66 and 67 of the IT Act.

Earlier in December, a notice was served to the model turned actor for allegedly posting an objectionable video relating to the former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

"Rajasthan Youth Congress general secretary Charmesh Sharma has filed a complaint stating Payal Rohtagi has posted an objectionable video about JL Nehru, Indira Gandhi on Facebook on September 1," said Lokendra Paliwal, Investigating Officer, Sadar Police Station, Bundi.

He further said: "During the investigation, our team reached her residence in Mumbai. Later, we met Rohtagi at her parent's home in Gujarat. We have given her the notice to file a reply in the case."

Payal on Sunday took to Twitter to declare that she was arrested by the Rajasthan police and said that "freedom of speech" is a joke.

She tweeted: "I am arrested by @PoliceRajasthan for making a video on #MotilalNehru which I made from taking information from @google Freedom of Speech is a joke @PMOIndia @HMOIndia."

Meanwhile, Rohtagi has also posted a video on the social media seeking an apology from Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi over the matter.
