Mumbai: Arjun Kapoor who will be seen playing Maratha warrior in the upcoming period drama Panipat shared the first poster of the film on Friday.
Taking to his Twitter, Arjun shared the poster with the caption, "Come Witness The Battle That Changed History, #Panipat. In Cinemas December 6th."
Panipat is based on the third Battle of Panipat. In the film, Arjun plays Sadashivrao Bhau, who served as the Sardar Senapati (commander-in-chief) of the Maratha army at the battle.
Sanjay Dutt which also features in the film will be seen playing Afghan king Ahmed Shah Abdali, opponent of Sadashiv Rao in the third battle of Panipat, which lead to a huge defeat of the Marathas.

Panipat will sum up the major events that lead to one of the biggest battles fought in the history of India. The film is touted to have a larger than life feel with magnificent sets and royal costumes.
Panipat also stars Kriti Sanon, Padmini Kolhapure, Mohnish Bahl, Zeenat Aman and Mir Sarwar. The period-drama is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker who has helmed films like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar and Mohenjo Daro.
Earlier praising Ashutosh, Arjun said, "He is very patient and calm in his approach. I feel anybody who wants to be an actor or director must meet Ashu sir because he has dabbled in both fields. He is really a sorted human being and the way he makes film you will fall in love with him so, it was great working with him."
Panipat is jointly produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar. The film will hit the theatres on December 6 this year.
