Mumbai: The makers of Prabhas' upcoming film Adipurush are yet to zero down upon the leading lady who can do justice to the role of Sita in the film. While Deepika Padukone was rumoured to be part of the project for the longest time, the latest reports hint at the possible casting of Kriti Sanon in the film which is a screen adaptation of the epic Ramayana.
Not only Deepika, earlier Anushka Sharma too was apparently considered to be one among the top contenders for the role. Reports did rounds that Anushka heard the narration of Adipurush and had expressed willingness to play Sita in the film. But the rumours gradually died down and nothing official has been announced from the makers except Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan's casting.

According to a leading webloid report, now Kriti has been offered the part for which she is much excited. Though she has played Parvati Bai in Ashutosh Gowariker's period drama Panipat in 2019, Adipurush would mark her debut in mythological genre. It will be interesting to see how she pulls off the role of Sita if given a chance.

Directed by Om Raut, the film is in the pre-production stage and scheduled to go on floors in January 2021. In the film, Saif essays the antagonist while Prabhas will be seen playing righteous Lord Ram.
Adipurush will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair.
The 3D film is slated to hit theatres on August 11, 2022.
