Mumbai: It has been a while since Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor sparked dating rumours. However, the two always avoided revealing much about their relationship. Recently, Malaika opened up on the online trolling she has been facing for dating a man almost a decade younger to him.

In a recent interview with a leading newswire, Malaika said that the real problem is not the age but it lies with the society who always find reasons to look down upon women.

The 45-year-old said, "I think the real problem is not age. Society finds ways to shame women throughout their lives. If you are a strong and independent woman, you become a soft target. People are still intimidated by an opinionated, thinking working woman and the best weapon they have is slander."

Malaika also said that people's perceptions don't matter to her anymore and she has become like that with age.

"With age, I have become immune to what people are thinking or saying about me. Today, I really don’t give a damn about people’s perceptions. Are you paying my bills? Why should I owe you an explanation? Kuchh toh log kahenge logon ka kaam hai kehna, " the actor said.

The fitness enthusiast said, "My approach to love has also changed. From being divorced to getting into a relationship, it wasn’t easy. You want to protect yourself from getting hurt. But I am so glad that I got myself out there. That has a lot to do with this new me."

Talking about relationships, Malaika said, "Relationships need love, affection, and nurture. They are hard work. But I am so glad that love happened to me. Being in this relationship truly feels amazing."

Lately, there have been rumours of her wedding with Arjun. However, she refused to comment on it calling it "really personal."
