Hyderabad: Filmmaker Karan Johar returning to director's chair for a romantic drama titled Prem Kahani is being widely reported. KJo's rumored project featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh has become the talk of the town but the maker is apparently not aware of the development.
Reports of Gully Boy stars Alia and Ranveer reuniting for Karan's next directorial venture have been doing rounds for a long. While the fans of Gully Boy duo are excited about Alia-Ranveer's reunion, the filmmaker, however, has refuted rumours of making Prem Kahani with the actors.

According to a webloid report, KJo has denied making Prem Kahani with Ranveer and Alia. The filmmaker, in fact, is not looking at directing any project and at the moment long-delayed Brahmastra has his undivided attention. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film starring Alia and Ranbir Kapoor has gone over-budget which is a cause of concern for KJo who like other filmmakers is burdened with 30 to 40 per cent added production cost for his several projects due to pandemic.

The filmmaker is reportedly reconsidering the budget of his ambitious period drama Takht. If reports are to be believed, KJo is toying with the idea of converting Takht into a web series. The film got announced in February 2020 but soon hit the roadblock even before it went on floors due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown. If and when Takht gets made, the film will mark Karan's return to the big screen as director for the first time since his 2016 release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
