It has been said that Sushant lost several projects and that he craved for "validation" from the industry which he never got. If it had been otherwise, would Mr. Rajput's story be any different?

Sushant was very eager to work in sequels of Aashiqui and Sadak. He went to Mahesh Bhatt's office, met him and gave auditions several times. He hoped that the projects would come to him. But, at the last moment, both the projects went to Aditya Roy Kapoor which apparently pained him.

Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela was a turning point in Ranveer's career. His film career got a boost with the movie. But, did you know, Sushant was supposed to essay the exuberant Ram in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial? Unfortunately, he had to let go not one but four films offered by Bhansali due to date issues.

It is also said that Sushant was almost selected for Yash Raj Films' Befikre which was later lapped up by Ranveer. On turning down Aditya Chopra's comeback film, Sushant had said that he wouldn't have done the film anyway, as it did not represent the new-age youth of India. He chose Shekhar Kapur's Paani over Befikre, however, the film did not take off after two years of intense preparation when YRF backed off from bankrolling the film.

Another aspect which could have played a role in Sushant's tragic end is Coronavirus induced-lockdown. Had there been no lockdown, Sushant would have been on a movie set. Imagine that! With a smile on his face and a strong will to accomplish everything. Perhaps depression could never touch him then.

Contrary to popular belief, Sushant was not "jobless" and had multiple projects lined up for him.

Sushant was supposed to star opposite rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty in Rumi Jaffery's science fiction Chanda Mama Door Ke. There were plans to make a patriotic film Bande Bharatam with his close friend Sandeep Ssingh. Based on the 1962 Sino-Indian war, the film Rifleman would also feature Sushant in lead. Even though, what instigated him to take the extreme step?

The police are investigating if he chose to take the extreme step owing to any professional rivalry or any other reason. However, it goes without saying that his death has been a great loss to the industry.

Was his death fault of nepotism or power play in the industry? Or, the fault lies with the stars as suggest the title of the original film of his last outing?
