Big B unwell, to skip 2019 National Film Awards ceremony

Ahead of the National Film Awards ceremony, the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to announce that he is unwell and that he will not be able to attend the prestigious award ceremony.

Mumbai: Bollywood's Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday revealed that he is down with fever and will not be able to attend the National Film Awards ceremony in Delhi which is set to take place on December 23, 2019.

The news came a day after it was declared that Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will confer the award on him.

The legendary actor, who has not been keeping well lately, took to social media to announce that he would not be able to attend the prestigious ceremony.

"Down with fever. Not allowed to travel. Will not be able to attend National Award tomorrow in Delhi. So unfortunate. My regrets," Amitabh tweeted.

The Bollywood veteran was hospitalised a few weeks ago. Despite the health scare, he has been continuously working upon being released from the hospital.

The 77-year-old veteran recently wrapped up the last schedule of his upcoming film titled Chehre in Slovakia. He had even attended the opening ceremony of the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa last month.

In October, he had shared that after getting discharged from the hospital, he had lost five kgs of weight.

"They tell me there is a loss of weight since the last few days. True. It's almost 5 kgs, which is just so fantastic for me," Amitabh wrote on his blog.

Meanwhile, the Pink actor who met the 2019 Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk in Wroclaw discussed about the Indian-Polish cooperation in the field of literature.

His recent visit to Poland can be seen as a new step towards strengthening the bilateral relations between India and Poland in the spectrum of culture.
